We have been drip feeding all our new brands for next season on a weekly basis and are incredibly excited about the arrival of Mary Katrantzou, Roksanda Ilinic, Pierre Balmain and Dagmar. None of these brands have been in Northern Ireland before and Isabel Marant is our final addition to this list. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Marant brand (unlikely we think) we will fill you in…
She is one of those designers who has been kinda blinkered to her success for years, but on purpose. She doesn’t really want to know about the fashion world and all that. She knows a certain kind of woman/ girl loves her clothes, but she keeps it to herself and is famously anti the Internet.
At 44 she says she doesn’t belong to the generation of spending time on the Internet..APPLAUD!! Her range therefore cannot be sold online and therefore remains very exclusive to both stockists and customers. She wants the customer experience for her range to remain very personal.
This introverted attitude clearly works for her, as Isabel is producing massively successful collections.
French Vogue Editor-in chief, Emmanuelle Alt, of whom we are big fans, used to be be the brands stylist and Alt’s husband, Franck Durand is the artistic director of the Marant company. With this combination of creative people it’s hard not to put a formula together on how to look gorgeous!!
Ms Alt’s wardrobe on closer inspection finds a heavy rotation of Isabel Marant being worn.
Isabel Marant is every cool girl’s secret fashion weapon. The designer has an uncanny gift for churning out exactly what a girl wants, no needs every season. Her contemporary line of chic basics have a rock’n’ roll edge cleverly combined with flirty femininity which strikes a chord with legions of fans.
Now we all know that in reality Marant is not cheap but thankfully she has a second label, Isabel Marant Etoile, that was launched in 2000. It defines parisian attitude and feminine spirit, epitomising bohemian-cool at a pocket friendly price-LOVE!!
Her goal has not changed since inception in 1990. She wants to create clothes for “girls who are working, who have interests, beliefs, biases and personality. A woman who wants to be different, be dressed but in a discreet way. She’s usually a rather active, entrepreneurial woman who needs to feel good in her clothes without trying too hard.
To sum this label up we’re talking it’s for the grown-up girl, the girl/woman with a true sense of style…And now to tempt you with a few images of some pieces due in for AW12.
Isabel Marant fans are so devout, supposedly, it’s hard for her to keep stock, with waiting lists for items before they arrive in-store!!
